For a long time now, prospective travelers have had the ability to search, find and make their basic flight and hotel reservations on-line. Only recently has it been possible for these same travelers to book their destination products, such as sightseeing tours and attraction tickets on line as well. Despite this trend, however, there is still no primary distribution system; which means that most travelers have to visit many different individual websites in order to purchase their destination products. For a tour operator, one of the most important goals is to sell seats. The challenge is how... Read more »

Having been an entrepreneur for most of my adult working life and a small business owner for a good portion of that time, I’ve been through many many situations that ended badly because there was no written agreement in place. That’s not to say that the situation could have been avoided, but the details that were the cause of the issue would most likely have been documented and part of an agreement. This is especially true when you’re having to deal with issues that are years old. I suggest you read my blog post “ANNOYING HABIT…” for my feelings on dwelling... Read more »

At the most recent parent education session at my youngest daughter’s preschool we covered the topic of effectively communicating with our children. This covered strategies and techniques for improving communication with our kids. I have to say I always enjoy getting feedback from professionals on these subjects and I especially enjoy discussing these issues with other parents as well. It really is nice to know that we are not alone in the World when it comes to having a fussy eater or a child who likes to say the word “Poo”. The one tidbit that really stuck with me from... Read more »

I was reading through my Avantgo version of Business Week when I came across this Book Excerpt from Marshall Goldsmith entitled What Got You Here Won’t Get You There. What I like about Business Week is that the articles are really relevant, especially to small business. This book excerpt in particular really struck a chord with me. At the beginning of a new year, it is so easy to reflect back on the events of the past twelve, or more, months and look at what went well and what did not. I learned a long time ago that you can’t change the past, but you can take lessons from the past... Read more »
